Katica Illényi success in Vietnam

On November 18th 2016 Hungary was represented by Katica Illényi Artist of Merit of Hungary, Liszt and Artisjus Award winning violinist and Hungary’s one and only Theremin artist at the European Music Festival held in Hanoi.

The concert was held at the hall of the Vietnam National Academy of Music where the artist was accompanied by the Vietnam National Symphony Orchestra conducted by Honna Tetsuji from Japan.

Prior to the concert an opening speech was given by Bruno Angelet – the Ambassador of the EU delegation in Hanoi and by Csaba Őry the Ambassador of Hungary. The presentation had a great international interest. A number of ambassadors from e.g. Austria, Bulgaria, Italy and the Netherlands, were present and many high-ranking Vietnamese political and economic leaders were also among the audience.

At the highly acclaimed concert, pieces from Béla Bartók, Rimsky-Korszakov, Astor Piazzola, Jacob Gade, Cole Porter and Saint-Saëns were played on the violin, the Theremin and also sung by the artist.

On the 20th of November Katica Illényi gave concert at the Conservatory in Ho Si Minh City. The opening speech was given by Tibor Baloghdi Hungarian consul general.

Both performances were celebrated by the audience in a standing ovation.
